These are the images captured during a conference match up between the Lions of New Brighton and the Bobcats of Beaver HS held on 9.19.13 at Oak Hill Field in New Brighton, PA. This was a very special evening at Oak Hill Field as the MIghty Lions celebrated "Dad's Night". Each Senior and their Dad were introduced onto the field in a wonderful pre-game ceremony. As for the football game, if you thought last year's game between these two teams was epic, this one just may have topped it. New Brighton marched down the field on the opening drive, but had to settle for only 3 points. Beaver then took advantage of Lion turnovers on their next 3 possessions as they jumped out to a 21-3 lead by the end of the 1st Quarter. Both teams exchanged scores early in the 2nd Quarter as Beaver maintained a 27-10 lead, but then New Brighton kept it's composure as they posted 21 unanswered points to close out the first half trailing Beaver by a score of 27-24. The 2nd half was all New Brighton as the Mighty Lions appeared to impose their will upon the Bobcats. New Brighton rattled off 32 more unanswered points scoring both on the ground and in the air. Beaver posted one final score late in the 4th Quarter, but the game was far out of reach by that time as New Brighton cruised to the 59-34 victory. Next up for the Lions is huge conference match up with the #2 Ranked Aliquippa Quips to be held in Aliquippa on Friday, September 26th. Both teams are undefeated and Aliquippa has dominated New Brighton for the past several years, but this New Brighton team hopes to prove the experts wrong and continue their own unbeaten streak.
