These are the images captured during a Class AA Midwestern Conference (MAC) match up between the Lions of New Brighton and the Wolverines of Ellwood Cityl High School held on 9.6.14 at Helling Stadium in Ellwood City. New Brighton came out swinging as Darrion Gilmore returned the opening kick-off 85 yards for the first of many Lions touchdowns this evening. A stingy New Brighton defense shutdown the Wolverines and on the very next Lions possession, Scott Florence broke loose on a 64 yards TD run for the first of his 3 TD's on the night. Ellwood City responded with a short touchdown run of their own, but before you knew it, New Brighton went into halftime with a comfortable 27-7 lead. The second half did not see the same offensive output, but did see two long TD runs by both squads in the 3rd Quarter. Ellwood's Nick Ioanilli got through a seam and went untouched on a 70 yard TD run. NB's Payton Fath found an open lane as he scampered down the left side for a 55 yard TD run in the 3rd Quarter. After a scoreless 4th Quarter, New Brighton went on for the 38-13 victory. Next up for the Lions is Conference match up with Summit Academy HS to be held at Oak Hill Field in New Brighton, PA.
