Images captured during a Section 1A match between the Lady Lions of New Brighton and the Lady Lancers of Neshannock on September 25, 2012 at New Brighton High School Soccer Field. Once again the young Lady Lions came out strong, jumping out to a 1-0 lead, but Neshannock would fight back, knotting the score 1-1 by halftime. The second half saw New Brighton regain the lead 2-1, but a late Neshannock goal would tie the game at 2-2. New Brighton came back and took control of the play, but a apparent winning goal by Mya Watkins was unfortunately netted about 5-10 seconds after the end of regulation buzzer had sounded. In the first OT period, New Brighton again controlled the play, but just couldn't strike paydirt. A laser shot from 14 yards out by Brooke Sabella sailed just over the crossbar with one second left and would have given the Lady Lions the victory, but it was not to be. The 2nd OT period saw the play go back and forth, but neither team could capitalize as the game ended in a 2-2 tie. Next up for the New Brighton Girls will be another Section 1-A match against Our Lady of Sacred Heart to be held on September 26th at Youthtowne Soccer Field in Clinton, PA. Good Luck Lady Lions!
