Images from the First Round of the WPIAL Class AA Playoffs between the 5th Ranked Lady Lions of New Brighton and the 12th Ranked Lady Lopes of Avonworth. New Brighton jumped on top early and often posting 5 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. New Brighton added another in the bottom of the 2nd to bring the score to 6-0 and they never looked back while cruising to a 7-1 victory. The Lady Lions hit the ball extremely well and played some great defense with Shelby Carver and Brooke McMurtrie making a couple outstanding plays in the outfield to track down Avonworth flyballs. Kiersten Manor struck out 10 and gave up only 4 hits as the Lady Lions advance to the Quarterfinals to face South Allegheny.
