Images taken while walking through the Currituck Banks Estuarine Research Reserve in the Corolla area of the Outer Banks in North Carolina. A 1/3 mile boardwalk led us through the reserve where I quickly picked up on the opportunity to photograph some larger dragonflies up close. Unfortunately it was miserably hot and humid during our walk and we did not stay very long. There is a separate walking trail off of the boardwalk that I would like to walk if I return to this area one day.

NOTE: Be sure to view the images in one of the largest sizes to get the full effect of the detail in the dragonfly's wings and body. It is really cool in my opinion.
